PROTECTING INDIVIDUALS

In 2016 we continued to protect individuals from identity fraud, including working with local authorities to protect some of the most vulnerable. In total, Cifas and its members offered protection to 240,000 individuals.

Cifas helped to protect the identities of individuals in three core ways in 2016:

CIFAS PROTECTIVE REGISTRATION

A service for individuals who are at risk of identity fraud, offering extra protection against fraudulent applications.

VICTIM OF IMPERSONATION MARKERS

Our members proactively register the identities of victims of identity fraud or facility takeover fraud when they uncover and/or prevent these identity crimes.

CIFAS PROTECTING THE VULNERABLE SCHEME

A free service for local authorities to protect the identities of vulnerable people in their care.
