Senior Fraud Insight Analyst

Description:

Role Purpose

To analyse data identifying changes in activity, providing insight to maximise member engagement. Identify areas for data quality improvement, and areas for enhancement in both member activity and Cifas systems and processes

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyse data identifying changes in activity, providing insight to maximise member engagement. Identify areas for data quality improvement, and areas for enhancement in both member activity and Cifas systems and processes
  • Inquisitive in exploring patterns and anomalies in Cifas data and producing meaningful insight as a result
  • Design sector reporting and deliver analysis to enhance member value and improve data quality
  • Design and report on measures to inform data integrity to feed directly into the risk strategy
  • Resolve member data queries supporting Relationship Managers to deliver against the member engagement strategy.
  • Work with Technology on the development of business intelligence and reporting tools
  • Take ownership for analysing member suspect data conducting comprehensive investigations before promoting appropriate cases based on aggregated data to Cifas’ National Fraud Database. Liaise appropriately on any resulting complaints and DSARs
  • Provide member insight and subject matter expertise through effective cross office collaboration on Cifas projects
  • Professionally represent and promote Cifas externally as required, engendering a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Undertake other duties as required

Technical Knowledge and Skills – Level 4

Defined as: the technical skills, qualifications or experience required to perform effectively. The performance level sought is: ‘Technical expert’. (Indicators: has complete technical knowledge, skills and experience and acts as ‘expert’ within organisation and beyond; has broad and deep technical knowledge and continues to apply these in highly technical design/management)

 

Attention to Detail – Level 4

Defined as: Continually checking information and progress to maintain a high degree of accuracy and having a low tolerance for errors. It involves following tasks through to the end. The performance level sought is: ‘Gets it right first time’ (Indicators: Always needs to know that a job’s been done properly, Goes through figures / reports and knows instinctively where to check and what it should look like, Sets an example to others so that quality of their work improves) 

 

Analytical Ability – Level 4

Defined as: Analytical thinking is the ability to think logically and sequentially in order to break problems down into component parts. Information handling is linked with this as an essential part of the problem solving process. The performance level sought is: ‘Deals with complex problems’ (Indicators: Analyses situations in depth, Takes a balanced view looking at wider issues, Weighs up pros and cons of different solutions, Sees political links and impact on other areas, Can process large amount of information without getting bogged down in detail)

 

Initiative – Level 3

Defined as: being proactive and seizing the opportunity for action.  The performance level sought is: ‘anticipates problems’, (Indicators: Anticipating problems and taking pre-emptive action; Being prepared to cut corners when necessary to bring about improvement; Recognising the need to ‘break the loop’ when systems are not efficient; Being quick to take on responsibility without clear guidelines /supervision)

 

The following qualifications, skills, experience, knowledge and other attributes are required to be considered for the role:

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Well organised to successfully deliver disparate activities and meet tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to consolidate information from a number of sources to produce written assessments
  • Highly numerate and inquisitive.  Able to interrogate data and statistics to identify pertinent issues
  • Good working knowledge of statistics and management information
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to rapidly develop the capability to extract data from FIND, the Cifas database

 
Desirable

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of fraud prevention, fraud systems and fraud prevention technology
  • Understanding and/or experience of using the Cifas system
  • Experience of writing queries (e.g. SQL, SAS,VBA or any other analytical packages) to extract information from Cifas systems
  • Understanding of the fraud issues facing the businesses represented within Cifas and the wider fraud environment
